About me

This blog is no longer active, but it still brings joy, so I’ve left it up.  To find what’s going on with me currently, you’ll want to click here.

To find out the story of this blog, and its rather presumptuous name, you’ll want to click on the “Why” tab.

Me?  I’m a lucky girl with a fantastic husband, two cats, and barely managed addictions to reading and napping. The cats are absolutely no help with the napping addiction.

I love teaching, coaching, being outside (or staring out the window if I’m feeling a little lazy), yoga, baking, dreaming, friends, and long walks on the beach (I just threw that last one in because I thought this was starting to sound like one of those ads.  But who doesn’t love long walks on the beach?)

I do my best to live simply, but sometimes I’m a little extravagant.

I’m inspired by artists, poets and writers and would like to develop myself more in these areas.

I think that soon it will be time to do some traveling somewhere exotic.

I believe that individuals have the power to make positive change in the world, and I try to maintain a peaceful existence and see the good and beautiful in others.

P.S.  All of the photos on this blog, unless I’m in them or otherwise note, are taken by me.  Headers and all. Please ask before copying; thanks!

You have a beautiful blog and I love all the pictures. I like to live more simply. So you are inspiring me there. 🙂

Thank you so much! I enjoy taking all my own photos to go with the blog – it’s part of the challenge! Sometimes I have to go back and take a digital photo of an old print – I don’t have a scanner right now, so that’s the easiest way. I did that with the Easter egg photo from yesterday.

Living simply is always a challenge. I’m re-reading Walden by Henry David Thoreau for a student I tutor and it’s a good reminder. He was one of the early “simple living” advocates. It’s funny to read how he writes about people back in the 1800’s being so overwhelmed with too much stuff and too much to do – what would he think if he saw how we live in the 21st century?

Hi Carla, nice to meet you! I too, like the simple things in life, and I love nature too – and as the title of my blog says – I’m passionate about pets! I live near a beach, so I have no excuse to take my dog for lots of leisurely walks there!

How lucky that you’re near a beach, Barb! I love the beach and we go at least several times a year, but I do dream of living close to a beach one day. I picture an old house with a wide porch and a little yard with an ancient live oak tree — with the beach maybe a few blocks away. And lots of cats. Sounds nice, don’t you think?

Hey, Carla. Thanks for visiting my blog and commenting. Simplicity in life is something I definitely strive for in my life, too. I like washing dishes and staring out my window over the sink up into the sky while daydreaming, or working in my garden/yard on a warm summer day just for the sake of being outdoors and seeing what nature will allow me to have in the way of vegetables and flowers I plant and tend to.
I look forward to reading more of your blog and the ways you find to express yourself and to live simple!

Thanks for stopping by! Some days are better than others, but even when life gets hectic, I try to pay attention to the little things. Sounds like you do the same. Cheers!

Good luck with the river. Hope you are okay. I love your blog and I am glad that you take time out for the share with us the better parts of life , when so many don’t . I have been following the news regarding the Miss. river. When I stood on the banks of the lake about 20 something years ago , I was awe struck. I always wondered what kept people there.

Oh, thank you. We are hopeful that all will be ok. We love it here so much it seems worth the risk of hurricanes and flooding. It’s such a vibrant and incredible city. It’s a beautiful day today, that’s for sure!

    Hi,

I enjoy reading your posts. I can relate to your musings. I love being outdoors, enjoying simple pleasures, I don’t mind doing without the finer things in life, but I do indulge in a bit of wine and chocolate here and there. I enjoy traveling, seeing the beautiful things that humans and nature create. I am also trying to simplify my life too. I look forward to reading more of your postings. 🙂

So glad you enjoyed! When we have the basics like food and safety taken care of, and are lucky enough to have people nearby who love us, plus some furry friends perhaps, it’s really not to hard to find miraculous things all around to appreciate and enjoy. Things that are completely free of charge. Cheers!

I’m doing something called Little Theatre, been writing stories with illustrations for like 25 yrs. and finally posted a few. The first one is about going to church..with a twist. Think you’d enjoy.
